Sean Paul Excited About Contributions to Bad Boys: Ride or Die Soundtrack

International recording artist Sean Paul is thrilled to have two of his tracks included in the soundtrack for the new Will Smith and Martin Lawrence movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

The film premiered in the United States on June 7 under Sony Pictures Entertainment, marking the fourth entry in the Bad Boys franchise.

Sean Paul features on the song “Light Em Up” alongside Will Smith and also collaborates on the title track “Bad Boys” with Argentine rapper Trueno.

“I’m always excited to be part of projects that get a lot of exposure and are well-regarded. Bad Boys has always been a popular series, and I’m really happy to contribute to its soundtrack. It’s an amazing feeling,” Sean Paul shared with the Jamaica Observer on Friday.

He elaborated that his collaboration with Trueno originated from a songwriting camp.

“The track with Trueno was created some time ago during a songwriting camp with several Latin artists. We came up with the song and submitted it. A few weeks later, I received a call asking if I’d be interested in doing the song with Will Smith. I jumped at the opportunity,” Sean Paul explained.

He added, “Although I don’t usually write ‘bad man’ lyrics, this song called for it.”

This isn’t Sean Paul’s first experience with his music being featured in films or official soundtracks. To date, he has had songs featured in 14 films.

In 1998, his track “Top Shotta” featuring rapper DMX and Mr. Vegas was included in the Belly movie soundtrack. In 2004, his remake of “Three Little Birds” with Ziggy Marley appeared on the Shark Tale soundtrack.

The 2006 film Step Up included his gold-selling hit “When You Gonna (Give it Up to Me)” with singer Keyshia Cole. His 2003 hit “Get Busy” was featured in the dance scene of the 2008 film Baby Mama, the club scene of the 2003 film Grind, and the 2004 romantic comedy Chasing Liberty.

The Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping “Temperature,” produced by Rohan “Jah Sno Cone” Fuller, was included in the 2007 film Norbit.

Sean Paul’s breakthrough pop hit “Gimmie The Light” was featured in the 2003 film Honey, while “Deport Them” made it onto the soundtrack for 2 Fast 2 Furious.

His collaboration with Dua Lipa, “No Lie,” is part of the 2017 Baywatch soundtrack, and “Got 2 Luv You” featuring Alexis Jordan, was included in the 2012 film Magic Mike.

“Mad Love” features in the 2021 film Misfits, and “Punkie,” a track from Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock album, is on the soundtrack for the 2004 film After the Sunset.
